8. Ask of me and I will make the nations your inheritance, and the ends of the earth your possession. 11. Serve the Lord with fear and rejoice with trembling.
A million years ago someone once said to me that they would like to tremble before the Lord like Daniel did.
Psalm 1 1. Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked or stand in the way of sinners or sit in the seat of mockers. 2. But his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law he meditates day and night. 3. He is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither. Whatever he does prospers. 4. Not so the wicked! They are like chaff that the wind blows away. 5. Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the assembly of the righteous. 6. For the Lord watches over the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked will perish.
Isn't it weird how during different stages of life, rereading a book or a passage in the present can have a completely meaning compared to the first time it was read?
This happened with my re-reading of Psalm 1. I think its been almost over a year since the last time I have carefully read Psalm chapter 1. And in the past I had highlighted verses 1, 3 and 6. I always felt so encouraged when I read those couple of verses: in the way that the Lord is watching over me and will protect me and I will be blessed.
This time around, however, the first thought that came into my head was...Am I chaff??? According to thefreedictionary.com Chaff is:
chaff 1 Noun 1. grain husks separated from the seeds during threshing 2. something of little worth; rubbish
I hope that the Lord has not given up on me and separated me from the seeds, or maybe my fear is that the Lord has given me a chance and during the process of thrashing...I have been revealed to be nothing but an empty shell easily lifted away by the wind.
I have a desire to be blessed by the Lord. I want to delight on the Lord and Meditate on Him day and night. That is my desire and perhaps then I won't be found empty and weightless.
